The start of the 1st Race was delayed as a result of SUMMER SIXTYNINE bolting, dislodging Apprentice Mohapi and having to be removed from the track. IVANOVICH, WATCH THE WINNER and NO DEBATE were all slow into stride. ROY'S PET (AUS) lost 1 length and thereafter was slow into stride. PEARLWARE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MISS MIRREN was squeezed out shortly after the start and thereafter over-raced in the early and middle stages. NO DEBATE was carried out by IVANOVICH for a number of strides at approximately the 500 metre mark. Apprentice May, the rider of NO DEBATE, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. SUMMER SIXTYNINE raced fitted with pacifiers. NO DEBATE raced with her tongue tied down. STAR ATTRACTION was sold with engagement and the Ownership should read: Mesdames T L Crawford and H A Crawford; and the Colours are: White, emerald green chevron, white sleeves, royal blue stars, royal blue and white quartered cap. The Medical Officer reported that Apprentice Mohapi was unfit to ride for the balance of the meeting due to a soft issue injury to back. Scratched: JUDSTONE - insufficient recovery time. SUMMER SIXTYNINE - dislodged jockey and bolted, withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
