FLYING WELSHMAN was fractious in the stalls, reared and dislodged the jockey, who then remounted. Trainer Marshall will be advised to have this colt re-schooled before its next engagement. In view of the performance from FLYING WELSHMAN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the colt and submit a report. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that MOMENTOUS did not stride out freely in running. HYPERVARLOCITY commenced to over-race in the early stages and had difficulty negotiating the first bend. HYPERVARLOCITY was carried out slightly in the concluding stages by AL CAPITANO, which was switched out to continue its run leaving the 50m. Jockey van der Merwe, the rider of MAMSELLE AL, appeared before the Board and was spoken to regarding his use of the crop in the home straight. AL CAPITANO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: FLYING WELSHMAN and MOMENTOUS - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: KING'S WORLD - shin sore. SILVER SOVEREIGN - coughing. DO RIGHT - lame on the right hind.
