The start of this race was delayed due to EAGLE FACE casting its left front shoe and having it to be re-shaped and refitted at the start. SECRET PLEDGE broke through the front gate, restrained by the Rider, returned to the start, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The Starting Stall Certificate for SECRET PLEDGE has been withdrawn until recertified tractable. This filly may not be presented for recertification for a period of seven days. COHIBA was slow, losing one length. VIKING HERO and ARABIAN NATIONAL were slow into stride. TUESDAYS CHILD jumped awkwardly, losing 2 to 3 lengths. ARABIAN NATIONAL raced without a tongue tie. Jockey Strydom reported that ARABIAN NATIONAL was not striding out freely in running. VIKING HERO, hanging in badly and was difficult to assist between the 500 metre mark and the 200 metre mark, shifted in and made contact with REBEL MAGIC at approximately the 300 metre mark. In view of the performance of REBEL MAGIC, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. In view of the performance of TUESDAYS CHILD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this horse. SOLE MIO (BRZ) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: REBEL MAGIC - not striding out right front. Veterinary report required prior to entry. ARABIAN NATIONAL - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. TUESDAYS CHILD - not striding out left front. Scratched: ADI STAR - abnormal temperature. SECRET PLEDGE - injured in the stalls. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
