MILLENNIUM WIND lost 2 to 3 lengths. NERO lost 1 length. MYWAYORTHEHIWAY and ROCKY STALLONE were pulling hard in the early stages. NOBLE STAR baulked for a clear run at the 400 metre mark and was forced to switch out to obtain a clear run. Simultaneously THE BARBADIAN shifted in slightly, making contact with MYWAYORTHEHIWAY, resulting in MYWAYORTHEHIWAY becoming unbalanced and being forced to ease off the heels of NOBLE STAR. Jockey van Rensburg, the rider of NOBLE STAR, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take more care when shifting ground in future. Both Trainer Zackey and Jockey Strydom were questioned regarding the performance of JUDICIAL. Jockey Strydom explained to the Board that JUDICIAL had travelled well in the early stages, but had failed to quicken when asked for an effort in the straight. This was confirmed when viewing the patrol film. The only explanation Trainer Zackey could offer the Board was that JUDICIAL was having its second run after a rest, and has undertaken to report back to the Board should he find anything amiss with this gelding on return to the stables. NERO became cramped for galloping room at approximately the 250 metre mark. EVEREST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khumalo weighed out at 53.2kg, 1kg over the carded weight. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for the contravention, read with Guideline 1 on overweight, in that he accepted to ride the horse MYWAYORTHEHIWAY when he was unable to draw the correct carded weight.
