BOLD SPEED was stubborn to load and restless in the stalls. Trainer Goosen was advised to re-school this filly. WICHITA was restless in the stalls. TO THE MAX stumbled leaving the stalls. GUADELPOUPE was hanging in from the 300m. TO THE MAX was hanging in from the 250m. Jockey Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse WICHITA more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Veale the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey Veale struck the horse WICHITA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey Veale used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty was imposed. GUADELOUPE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
