PAPER BALLERINA reared over in the stalls, dislodging the rider as the start was effected and bolted the course. AMBER FURST lost four lengths. Trainer Whitehead was advised to re-school this mare. PATH TO GLORY lost two lengths. A race review, pertaining to PAPER BALLERINA drawn in stall gate 5, was called into the start of this race. In this regard, it was established that as the start was effected PAPER BALLERINA had reared over in the stalls. In reviewing this incident, the Board was of the view that any prejudice incurred by this filly was as a result of its own behaviour therefore, no further action was taken and PAPER BALLERINA was deemed to be a runner. In view of the Starter's report with regard to PAPER BALLERINA, this filly's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. PAPER BALLERINA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. FLAMING DESIRE was ridden to the outside running rail in the straight. At the 300m, MS ROSA PARKS had to switch out, off the heels of LADY SHARON to obtain a clear run. The saddle on AMBER FURST slipped forward severely in the running. Approaching the 900m, STARLIGHT clipped the heels of LADY SHARON, which shifted in. As a consequence of this incident, FIRE FAERIE had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of STARLIGHT. Apprentice Gates signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, in that as the rider of LADY SHARON, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to STARLIGHT at approximately the 900m. Accordingly, a suspension from riding in races for a period of 10 days was imposed. Apprentice Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse FLAMING DESIRE more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice Ferraris the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice Ferraris struck the FLAMING DESIRE, the distance over which and manner in which Apprentice Ferraris used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of was imposed. FLAMING DESIRE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MYTHICAL MAGIC raced with an alumite bar shoe right fore, alumites all round. Vet: CLASS OF EIGHT - cut into right hind. PAPER BALLERINA - injured in stalls.
