BLACK KITTEN jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. SCHISM jumped outwards and made contact with WANDA. In view of the performance from ATLANTIC OAK (GB), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the mare and submit a report. Jockey Fayd'Herbe reported that he felt something amiss with SCHISM in running. MARMALADY (AUS) had to steady approaching the 100m, when tightened for galloping room between BLACK KITTEN, which rolled out slightly and SAINT SOPHIA. CAREFUL HIKER was carried outward leaving the 100m when attempting to establish clear running on the outside of MARI, which was tiring and rolled outwards. This led to SCHISM and COUNTING ANGELS being carried outwards and ATLANTIC OAK (GB) having to steady to avoid the heels of COUNTING ANGELS. Jockey Cheyne, the rider of CAREFUL HIKER, appeared before the Board regarding this incident and was advised that while the Stewards conceded that there were circumstances surrounding this report, he needs to exercise more caution in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding the improved performance from DYNASTY'S PRIDE today compared to her previous race when she finished 20.90 lengths behind the winner over 1800 m on 12 April 2014 at Kenilworth, Trainer Burger told the Stewards that he had raced the filly fitted with blinkers in her previous run and that she had proved too strong for the Apprentice, had raced too handy in the early and middle stages, and had compounded in the home straight. For today's race he had removed the blinkers and the Apprentice had managed to place the filly behind cover and she had finished the race off strongly. The Board noted Mr Burger's explanation and advised him that if he decided to equip the filly with blinkers in future he needs to obtain the services of a stronger rider. Furthermore, Mr Burger's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to inconsistent form and that the future performances of the filly will be monitored. MARI took an awkward stride at the 1500m. DYNASTY'S PRIDE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ATLANTIC OAK (GB) and SCHISM - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: PECAN NUT - lame on the left fore.
