ABERCROMBIE and A P STRIKE were slow into stride. ABERCROMBIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JAY POWER, COUNTS ROCKET and A P STRIKE over-raced in the early and middle stages. ASSEGAI was switched out off the heels of SPEED ROCKET at approximately the 250 metre mark inconveniencing ROY'S JET. ABERCROMBIE shifted out shortly before the finish, carrying SPEED ROCKET outwards and brushing SPEED ROCKET. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward and after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles and after considering the winning distance posted by the Judges, took no further action. Jockey van Niekerk appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in the future. ROY'S JET was hanging in, in the latter stages. Jockey Delpech reported that GOLDEN HIGH not striding out freely in running. Apprentice Murray reported that JAY POWER was not striding out in the latter stages. Vet: GOLDEN HIGH - not striding out right hind. JAY POWER - coughing and abnormal respiratory noise.
