SOVEREIGN SPEECH jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with LILY MY LOVE, and thereafter was slow into stride. UP IN LIGHTS flyjumped outwards and thereafter was slow into stride. In view of the performances from LITTLE BEAR and SOVEREIGN SPEECH, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies and submit a report. Assistant Trainer Sobotker, acting on behalf of Trainer Ramsden, was requested to report back on LITTLE BEAR's condition on her return to the stable. LILY MY LOVE was carried in slightly at the 300m by LITTLE BEAR, which shifted in away from the crop. MIGHTY LUCK was held up for a clear run at the 100m, on the heels of HILARIA, which rolled out slightly. HILARIA was tightened for galloping room in the concluding stages between BLUE BAY DOLL, which shifted in away from the crop, and KARKLOOF, which rolled out slightly. This led to HILARIA and KARKLOOF making contact shortly before the finish line. Jockey Byleveld, the rider of BLUE BAY DOLL, appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course. BLUE BAY DOLL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: LITTLE BEAR and SOVEREIGN SPEECH - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
