GIFFORD broke through the front gate, dislodged Jockey Khathi, bolted and was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. Trainer Ennion will be advised to have this colt re-schooled before its next engagement. PRINCE OF PANAREA was slow into stride. The start of this race was delayed as GIFFORD broke through the front gate, dislodged Jockey Khathi and bolted the course causing a delay until GIFFORD could be caught and secured. In view of the performances from SOVEREIGN SOUND, and MARIA'S DAUGHTER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses and submit a report. MARIA'S DAUGHTER made its run in the middle of the course on entering the straight where it raced without company and then showed a tendency to hang inwards in the closing stages. Apprentice Neethling was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ride TOUR DE VAR out to the end of the race. Apprentice Neethling signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. In assessing penalty the Stewards considered that Apprentice Neethling had been told to ride his mounts to the finish on 10 May 2014, and that the official distance between 3rd and 4th place was a short head. VARISTAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SOVEREIGN SOUND - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. MARIA'S DAUGHTER - returned not striding out in front. LOUISVILLE LEGEND - made a poor recovery. DESTINY DRIVEN - returned blowing. Scratched: GIFFORD - bolted the course after dislodging the jockey, was withdrawn.
