MARDI GRAS and RIVARINE were slow into stride. BASADI FAITH jumped inwards leaving the stalls. BENJI jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. CARBON ATOM stood, losing many lengths. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. In view of the Starter's report with regard to CARBON ATOM, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable with a companion. CARBON ATOM may not be presented for repassing during this period. At approximately the 400m Apprentice Syster attempted to ease BASADI FAITH out the race. Thereafter this filly ducked in sharply, collapsed and dislodged Apprentice Syster. Leaving the 150m WARRIOR'S REST was brushed out by MR FLOOD, which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. Jockey Lerena reported that MARDI GRAS was blowing heavily post-race. Jockey Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with BENJI in running. MIGHTY HIGH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BASADI FAITH - collapsed and died. Sent to Onderstepoort for post mortem. Specimens collected for analysis. MARDI GRAS - mild post-race distress. BENJI - not striding out right front.
