EMBLEM HONOUR (AUS) was slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race. The field elected to race three horse widths off the inside running rail around the bend due to concerns about softer ground near the inside running rail at the 900m. Jockey Fourie reported that RICHARD STRAUSS (ARG) made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. Assistant Trainer Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer Snaith, was requested to report back on the gelding's condition on its return to the stable. In view of the performances from EMBLEM HONOUR (AUS), TEMPLE TIGER, CELTIC JET, KING OF THE DEEP and MARINO CASINO, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses and submit a report. The Stewards adjourned to consider the circumstances that led to Apprentice Neethling, the rider of MANTLE'S HEATH, failing to include his surcingle when weighing in after the race. ITSTARTEDWITHAKISS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: EMBLEM HONOUR (AUS) - returned not striding out. CELTIC JET - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. TEMPLE TIGER, KING OF THE DEEP, MARINO CASINO and RICHARD STRAUSS (ARG) - were inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys were selected for the taking of urine samples for analysis.
