The start of this race was delayed due to routine maintenance having to be completed on the track. LORD DUBOIS squeezed out at the jump. GEMS A PLENTY reared as the start was effected, dislodging Jockey Brown. The Board reviewed the start of the this race and were of the opinion that GEMS A PLENTY had not received a fair start and therefore declared this gelding a non-runner. Apprentice Marwing, the rider of VULCAN, dropped his right side rein at the 200 metre mark, which he regained shortly thereafter. Jockey Danielson and Jockey van der Merwe, the riders of EASY GAME and HOWHIGHCANUFLY, reported that their mounts were not striding out freely in running. MEN AND MOUNTAINS became cramped for galloping room and was forced to ease shortly after the start. Apprentice Zackey and Jockey Strydom reported that they felt something amiss with EUSEBIAS and ARABIAN NATIONAL and did not persevere with their mounts in the latter stages. Trainer Tarry will be questioned regarding the performance of ARABIAN NATIONAL. PAPA JOE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: EUSEBIUS, EASY GAME, HOWHIGHCANUFLY and ARABIAN NATIONAL - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: GEMS A PLENTY - declared a non-runner. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys and Apprentices were selected for breathalyser tests and the taking of urine samples for analysis.
