BOLD VAR was stubborn loading. CHARLIE TRIMBLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Campbell was questioned with regard to the improved performance of CHARLIE TRIMBLE, the winner, compared to this gelding's previous performance over 1400 metres. Mr. Campbell explained that this gelding is better suited to sprint distances. He further undertook to race CHARLIE TRIMBLE over similar sprint distances in the foreseeable future. The Board noted his explanation. TYCOON TOUCH jumped outwards at the start, resulting in ROYALSECURITYPOWER (AUS), who was slow into stride, being squeezed out. BOLD VAR raced wide on the bend. BOLD VAR and STAMPEDE were hanging in over the final 400 metres. ROYALSECURITYPOWER (AUS) was hanging in throughout at approximately the 100 metre mark and shifted in slightly, brushing ROYAL ROY (AUS). In view of the performance of THRESHOLD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Vet: THRESHOLD - not striding out right hind and coughing.
