The start of this Race was delayed as a result of YOUR WORSHIP and VIVE LA REINE becoming fractious in the stalls following an electrical current running through the stalls. All horses were removed and the starter was instructed to effect the start manually. Thereafter the gates opened whilst only VIVE LA REINE was installed resulting in this filly bolting 400 metres before returning to the start, being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was declared fit to race. The field was reloaded and the start was effected manually. ICEOLITE was slow into stride. ARCH RIVAL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khumalo, the rider of VIVE LA REINE, accidentally dropped his crop at approximately the 200 metre mark. Jockey Domeyer reported that he felt something amiss with LORD AVON in running and as a result did not persevere with his mount in the final straight. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, in that he rode VIVE LA REINE, in an unprofessional manner by dropping his crop in the latter stages. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Marwing was stood down after the running of this Race with a hamstring injury. Vet: VIVE LA REINE - abnormal respiratory noise. LORD AVON - not striding out left fore. Scratched: YOUR WORSHIP - injured in stalls and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
