FLYING FANTASY, CRANBERRY CRUSH and PINK were slow into stride. In view of the performance from EMERALD BAY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. When questioned regarding the change of tactics adopted on EMERALD BAY, Jockey Lerena explained to the Board that this filly had jumped well from a wide draw and gradually made up ground on the field to take a comfortable lead in what he thought was a slow run race. EMERALD BAY travelled well with him up until the 400m, then she came under pressure and tired. Jockey Lerena also added that in EMERALD BAY'S previous run, on the 18th of February 2020, there was a very fast early pace in the race, which had enabled horses sitting off the pace to run on. Apprentice Dicken reported that he felt something amiss with FLYING FANTASY in running. Jockey Danielson reported that he felt something amiss with THE SASH in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 200m. PINK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: FLYING FANTASY - scalped right hind. EMERALD BAY - nasal discharge. THE SASH - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: LACONIA - abnormal temperature.
