CAPTAIN AMERICA was restless in the stalls and as the start was effected jumped awkwardly, losing 1 length. CAPETOWN NOIR and JET BELLE both lost 1 length. Jockey Cormack, the rider of CAPTAIN AMERICA, was fined for showing dissent towards the Starter. WYLIE HALL (AUS), LEGISLATE and FUTURA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performances of ESPUMANTI (GB) and LOUIS THE KING, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly and this colt. KING OF PAIN and LOUIS THE KING raced wide throughout. ESPUMANTI (GB) was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. In a slow run race CAPTAIN AMERICA pulling hard and difficult to settle, clipped the heels of IN THE FAST LANE at approximately the 1800 metre mark and stumbled. LOUIS THE KING clipped the heels of CAPTAIN AMERICA at approximately the 700 metre mark and stumbled becoming unbalanced. LEGISLATE shifted inwards approaching the 250 metre mark and brushed the hind quarters of WYLIE HALL (AUS) and was straightened. Leaving the 200 metre mark WYLIE HALL (AUS) shifted outwards and brushed LEGISLATE outwards and thereafter between the 100 metre mark and the 50 metre mark WYLIE HALL (AUS) continued to shift outwards brushing LEGISLATE on two occasions. An Objection was lodged by Jockey Fourie, rider of the second placed horse, LEGISLATE, against the winner, WYLIE HALL (AUS), on the grounds of interference over the final 300 metres. The Objection Board after considering the evidence, were of the opinion that but for the interference LEGISLATE would have beaten WYLIE HALL (AUS) and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the result. An Inquiry will be held into Trainer Marwing's behaviour in and around the Boardroom after the running of the 7th Race. WHITELINE FEVER returned post race having cast the left hind shoe. WYLIE HALL (AUS) did not race fitted with cheek pieces. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Strydom was treated for dehydration and unfit to ride for the balance of the meeting. He was replaced on the balance of his mounts. Vet: ESPUMANTI (GB) - nothing obvious detected. LOUIS THE KING - not striding out right hind. WHITELINE FEVER - cut into left hind. LEGISLATE - lame right front.
