SUN OF AFRICA was stubborn to load. Trainer van Zyl advised to re-school. THE ROYAL RUMBA and ZANTE were slow into stride. SUN OF AFRICA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer van Zyl was questioned with regard to the improved performance of SUN OF AFRICA, compared to this gelding's previous run on the 12th July 2014. He explained that the fitting of the blinkers coupled with the nose-band contributed to this gelding's poor performance. He further explained that for today's race, he removed the nose band and this, in his opinion, had attributed to the improvement shown. The Board noted his explanation and advised him to race this gelding equipped in a similar manner in future. THE ROYAL RUMBA was hanging in, in the latter stages. SUN ON AFRICA and ZANTE over-raced in the early stages. THE ROYAL RUMBA and EAST OF CORK are geldings and not colts as carded. Vet: FERUDA - coughing. Scratched: CAPTAIN BROADHURST - not eating up. CHESTNUT CHIEF - coughing.
