The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race, the 25 minute interval between races 7 and 8, and the tongue tie on EMERALD TIARA having to be refitted. EPIC DREAM was slow into stride. CAPTAIN'S REWARD jumped awkwardly. As the start was effected CAPTAIN'S REWARD jumped awkwardly. As a consequence of this, Apprentice Matsunyane briefly lost the footing of his right side stirrup iron, In the concluding stages COUNTRY SQUIRE and JOZI HUSTLE, which shifted in away from the crop, came together and brushed. Jockey Lerena reported that DEERUPT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Apprentice Ferraris reported that EMERALD TIARA did not stride out freely in running. EPIC DREAM was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. EMERALD TIARA raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: DEERUPT - no respiratory noise detected post-race. EMERALD TIARA - not striding out left hind. Scratched: TOUCH OF FATE - insufficient recovery time.
