CADILLAC BABY and GOLDIVA were slow into stride. Jockey Yeni reported he felt something amiss with JET FOR JOY and did not persevere with his mount from the 200 metre mark. Jockey Appie reported GOLDIVA was not striding out in running and did not persevere with his mount in the latter stages. ELEGANT BAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Kotze was questioned regarding the improved performance of ELEGANT BAY. He explained that he had removed the blinkers and that this mare was better suited to the further distance of today's race. This explanation was noted. Trainer Kotze was advised to race this mare similarly equipped and over similar distances in future. Vet: JET FOR JOY - abnormal respiratory noise. GOLDIVA - not striding out right fore. Scratched: SILKEN SEA - lame right fore.
