The start of this race was delayed due to difficulties experienced in positioning the Starting Stalls. GALACTIC was stubborn loading. INTO THE WIND was stubborn loading and slow into stride. THATCATCANRUN clipped heels and stumbled badly shortly after the start. Racing into the first turn THATCATCANRUN was pulling hard in the early stages, switched outwards off the heels of runners, which resulted in ARABIAN APPROVAL being carried outwards. Jockey Herholdt reported that MAKEOVER took no interest in the straight. MULLINS REEF was hanging in, in the straight. LORD KELLY shifted in for a clear run at approximately the 300 metre mark, carrying INTO THE WIND inwards. This resulted in IBERIAN EXPRESS having to ease, clipped the heels of INTO THE WIND and stumbled badly. Jockey Naidoo signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that, whilst riding LORD KELLY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the runners on his inside at the 300 metre mark. He was suspended from riding in race meetings for a period of seven days. SIMMERING became cramped for galloping room at approximately the 200 metre mark and was forced to ease, thereafter had to ease shortly before the finish line. PUCHINI (ARG) shifted out slightly at approximately the 100 metre mark, resulting in MUNAASEB becoming cramped for galloping room and having to ease for a number of strides. As a result of this incident ESTRELLA became cramped for galloping room and was forced to ease. LORD KELLY shifted out in the latter stages, carrying BOLD EPIC and THUNDER FURY outwards shortly before the finish line. LORD KELLY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Wiese was questioned regarding the improved performance of this gelding compared to his previous start on 4 July 2014. He explained that he had gelded LORD KELLY after his last race and believed that this was the reason for the improvement. The Board noted this explanation. IBERIAN EXPRESS raced with a tongue tie. PUCHINI (ARG) raced without a tongue tie. Vet: INTO THE WIND - Bilateral Epistaxis, 90 day suspension. ARABIAN APPROVAL - blood in mouth. MUNAASEB and MAKEOVER - coughing post race. PUCHINI (ARG) - abnormal respiratory noise.
