SET YOUR SIGHTS jumped inwards. WISE GEEK (ZIM) was slow, losing two lengths. HEADSTRONG HARRY jumped outwards and carried LOTUS LILY LAKE and KISANGANI outwards. CORNY AL was slow into stride. Jockey Andrews reported that he felt something amiss with VENTURE VAR in running. In view of the performance from ELITE JET, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. Jockey Andrews, the rider of VENTURE VAR, appeared before the Board and was advised against using his crop on a horse which is out of contention for a place. AFRICAN FISH EAGLE was hanging in, in the closing stages. LOTUS LILY LAKE was held up for a clear run between the 600m and 300m. AFRICAN FISH EAGLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Club's Medical Officer stood down Jockey du Plooy on medical grounds. Vet: ELITE JET - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. VENTURE VAR - made a poor recovery. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys were selected for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
