The start of this race was delayed due to WIND AT YOUR BACK being reluctant to proceed to the start and having to be led; and then subsequently the tongue tie on ROYALE MART having to be refitted. BLACK PEPPER and ON THIS ROCK were restless in the pens. Trainer Kotze was advised that should WIND AT YOUR BACK prove reluctant to proceed to the start in future, this gelding may be suspended. Jockey Yeni reported that ROYALE MART made a respiratory noise and did not persevere with his mount from the 300 metre mark. Jockey Herholdt reported that ON THIS ROCK made a respiratory noise. ATSO TIME was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BLACK PEPPER - wound left nostril. ON THIS ROCK - no respiratory noise detected post race. FLY ME HIGH - mouth injury. ROYALE MART - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: MINI BLACK - off feed.
