TOUGHNUTTOCRACK reared in the pens, dislodging Jockey Mienie. THE CAPTAIN'S TUNE lost 1 to 2 lengths. After reviewing the patrol film of the start and in consultation with the Starter, the Board were of the opinion that TOUGHNUTTOCRACK had not received a fair start and therefore declared this gelding a non-runner. In view of the Starter's report with regard to TOUGHNUTTOCRACK and considering this gelding's previous history with regards to its barrier manners, TOUGHNUTTOCRACK was suspended and may not be presented for recertification for a period of 30 days. TOUGHNUTTOCRACK must be recertified tractable on a race day with a companion. Jockey Strydom appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to his ride on TAKE A HIKE. He explained to the Board that this horse had been slow away, raced very green and had failed to respond to any of his urgings and therefore he did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Apprentice Maleking reported that PRIVATE GAME made a respiratory noise in running. GREEN ROCK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Little signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on the horse LA TOURELLE. THE CAPTAIN'S TUNE is a gelding. Vet: PRIVATE GAME - no respiratory noise detected post race. SEISMIC - coughing. SOUTHFORK - not striding out left fore. Scratched: STARLIGHT EXPLORER (AUS) - coughing. TOUGHNUTTOCRACK - declared a non-runner.
