IDIOSYNCRASY was slow into stride. WANING CRESCENT shifted in at about the 300m and brushed SKY AT NIGHT, which had been straightened. Thereafter WANING CRESCENT continued to shift in, made contact with SKY AT NIGHT, which was carried in onto INDABA, and these fillies made contact on a number of occasions passing and leaving the 200m. As a result both SKY AT NIGHT and INDABA became severely unbalanced, losing position and their momentum. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review regarding this incident and then lodged an Objection on behalf of the 2nd placed horse, INDABA, against the winner, WANING CRESCENT, on the grounds of interference passing and leaving the 200m. The Board, after reviewing the video evidence and giving regard to the evidence put forward during the Objection, was of the opinion that INDABA would have finished ahead of WANING CRESCENT had the incident not occurred and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges' result. Jockey Fayd'Herbe, the rider of WANING CRESCENT, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted in at the 200m. Jockey Fayd'Herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. WANING CRESCENT, the second placed horse, after Objection was upheld, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
