The start of the 1st Race was slightly delayed due to the farrier having to tend to the right fore shoe on JEDAK prior to this colt leaving the parade ring. This shoe could not be refitted resulting in the left shoe being removed and JEDAK racing unshod in front. There was a further delay to the start of the 1st Race as a result of the rein on TRIPTIQUE breaking and the field having to be unloaded and a new rein fitted to the bridle of TRIPTIQUE. TRIPTIQUE was restless in the stalls and as a result the one rein broke resulting in a new rein having to be fitted to the bridle. HARRISON, JEDAK and SIYABONGA CASEY were slow into stride. TRIPLE APOLOGY jumped awkwardly, losing 1 length and thereafter was slow into stride. HARRISON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. IT'S THE ANSWER, TRIPLE APOLOGY and TRIPTIQUE raced green on the bend. TRIPTIQUE raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. Jockey Forbes, the rider of SIYABONGA CASEY, reported this colt refused to gallop. The change of ownership of HARRISON should read: Messrs V A Tojeira, B G Burgess & G H van Zyl; and the Colours are: black, dayglo orange chevron, black sleeves, dayglo orange stars, striped cap. SIYABONGA CASEY and JEDAK are geldings and not colts as carded. Vet: SIYABONGA CASEY - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: TELL THE TALE - jarred right fore knee.
