FAT CHANCE, FIRE THE ROCKET and KING ALFRED lost one length. ROYALSECURITYPOWER (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROYALSECURITYPOWER (AUS), hanging out, shifted out carrying KINGS GOLD outwards between the 400 and 300 metre marks. Thereafter KINGS GOLD was switched in to obtain a clear run. FIRE THE ROCKET, hanging in, in the straight, became baulked for a number of strides approaching the 300 metre mark and thereafter shifted in brushing CHARLIE TRIMBLE. KING'S JET was hanging in, in the latter stages. RAINIER brushed a tiring FIRST ANSWER passing the 200 metre mark. FAT CHANCE raced wide throughout. PLATINUM RULER was hanging in over the final 300 metres. In view of the performance of PLATINUM RULER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Apprentice Claassen, the rider of FAT CHANCE, appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this Race. He explained that this gelding took no interest in running and was hanging out in the early stages. As a result he had elected to allow this gelding to race wide and not to encourage him to shift in towards the field. In view of this explanation and the fact that FAT CHANCE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon post race and was found not to be striding out, the Board took no further action but advised Apprentice Claassen to make more of an attempt in future to ensure that his mounts race competitively. KING ALFRED raced with Club Colours. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Lerena stood down after the running of this Race with dehydration. Vet: FIRE THE ROCKET - mouth injury. PLATINUM RULER - nothing obvious detected. FAT CHANCE - not striding out right hind. Scratched: ATSO'S HILL - virus.
