MAX THE MAN and INDIAN GIANT (USA) were stubborn loading. ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) reared in the pens and lost 3 to 4 lengths. NATIONAL KEY jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. KAPELLMEISTER lost 1 length. RUSHMORE RIVER raced equipped with alumite shoes. Jockey Little felt something amiss with LEEULOOP JET and did not persevere with his mount from approximately the 300 metre mark. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Trainer Moffatt was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything untoward with LEEULOOP JET on return to the stables. Jockey van der Merwe did not persevere with EMPEROR AUGUSTUS in the latter stages. In view of the performance of this gelding, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine EMPEROR AUGUSTUS. INDIAN GIANT (USA) was hanging out in the latter stages. Jockey Mienie, the rider of DESERT RAPTOR, and Jockey Zechner, the rider of KAPELLMEISTER, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out. Trainer Binda to be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board should anything untoward be found with KAPELLMEISTER on returning to the stables. DUE AND PAYABLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) - abnormal respiratory noise. LEEULOOP JET and KAPELLMEISTER - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. DESERT RAPTOR - not striding out left fore. Veterinary report required prior to entry. EMPEROR AUGUSTUS - not striding out right fore.
