The tongue tie on DARING DAVE had to be refitted at the start, causing a delay. KINGVOLDT and VILLA DEL LARGO were restless in the stalls. THE WHICH DOCTOR broke open the front gate, which was immediately reclosed. CAP ALRIGHT stumbled shortly after the start and dislodged the rider. In view of the performance from SILVER BLUFF, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding and submit a report. Jockey Orffer, under the impression that something was amiss with DE KOCK, did not persevere with his riding from the 150m. CAP ALRIGHT stumbled shortly after the start and dislodged the rider and DE KOCK was carried inwards, losing position. TEVEZ, which was following CAP ALRIGHT (the loose horse), shifted out slightly approaching the 400m taking up a position behind HAPPY FOREVER. CASTLETHORPE (AUS), TWENTYMANJONES, THE WEST IS WIDE, THE WHICH DOCTOR and KINGVOLDT, which were racing in a tightly bunched field, had to steady leaving the 400m when tightened for galloping room on the outside of TEVEZ, which shifted out slightly. Shortly thereafter KINGVOLDT rolled in slightly carrying TIGER TIGER inwards, which led to SILVER BLUFF having to check, losing position when severely tightened for galloping room between TIGER TIGER and SHISHANGENI. Jockey Marcus, the rider of TEVEZ, appeared before the Board and was advised that although there were circumstances surrounding the incident, he should make every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. ASSTAR was hanging out badly from the 400m. Jockey Puller was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C, Appendix L, in that he misused his crop by hitting ASSTAR more than three times on consecutive strides at the 400m. Jockey Puller signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. ASSTAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. HAPPY FOREVER raced with alumite bar shoes in front, and alumites behind. Vet: DE KOCK - returned fatigued. SILVER BLUFF and CAP ALRIGHT - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. TEVEZ - returned having cast the left fore shoe in running. Scratched: CAPTAIN ON THE RUN - not eating up. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
