The start of this race was delayed due to an electrical and satellite problem failure on course. DRUMMINOR was stubborn loading and slow into stride. BLUE HORIZON BAY was slow away and lost 2 lengths. EMPEROR AUGUSTUS faltered at approximately the 300 metre mark and was not persevered with thereafter. OREO SHAKE (AUS) was hanging in, in the straight. In view of the performance of this gelding, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey Herholdt, the rider of TIGER PLAY, and Apprentice Mxothwa, the rider of SWEDISH KING, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in the running. CURRENT EVENT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: TIGER PLAY and OREO SHAKE (AUS) - short right fore. SWEDISH KING - short left fore. EMPEROR AUGUSTUS - checked post race, nothing obvious detected.
