The start of this Race was delayed due to the starting stalls having to be repositioned on several occasions. STORM WARNING, BARACAH, AMERICAN STORM and GUY FROM DUBAI lost 1 length. J'S OUTSIDER over-raced in the early stages. JEPPE'S REEF was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. Thereafter compounded in the straight and Jockey Fayd'Herbe did not persevere with his ride from the 200 metre mark. In view of the performance of JEPPE'S REEF, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Assistant Trainer Fayd'Herbe, acting on behalf of Trainer Bass, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything untoward with JEPPE'S REEF on return to the stables. CIGAR BOY was pulling hard early. Jockey Maujean felt something amiss with SAVAGE WIND and did not persevere with his mount from the 200 metre mark. YER-MAAN faltered at approximately the 150 metre mark. Thereafter Jockey Strydom felt something amiss and he did not persevere with his mount. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. SKY RISE shifted out away from the crop, resulting in J'S OUTSIDER becoming cramped for galloping room and having to ease for a number of strides at approximately the 100 metre mark. Apprentice Marwing signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to J'S OUTSIDER at approximately the 100 metre mark whilst riding SKY RISE. A Warning was imposed. AMERICAN STORM and HENRY HIGGINS were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: YER-MAAN - coughing. CIGAR BOY - lame right fore. JEPPE'S REEF - examined post race, no significant findings. STORM WARNING - abnormal respiratory noise. SAVAGE WIND - not striding out left fore.
