The start of this race was delayed due to the request of the Operator. VENTURE was slow into stride. Assistant Trainer Stegmann was questioned regarding the improved performance of MASTER ENTERTANER. He explained to the Board that in this gelding's previous race, he had raced wide and as a result had faded in the straight. For today's race, he had instructed Jockey van der Merwe to ride this gelding from off the pace which in his opinion had accounted for the improvement. The Board have adjourned to review MASTER ENTERTAINER's previous run. Jockey Herholdt, the rider of KINGSTON MINES (GB), dropped his right side rein at the 600 metre mark, which he regained shortly thereafter. KINGSTON MINES (GB) was hanging in from the 400 metre mark. KLONDIKE CREEK became cramped for galloping room at approximately the 300 metre mark. Jockey Aucharuz reported that FINAL SCORE was not striding out freely and as a result he did not persevere with his mount. KINGSTON MINES (GB) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: FINAL SCORE - not striding out right front. Scratched: REBEL FLAME - hoof abscess. INDIGO PIXIE - not striding out left front.
