The start of this Race was delayed due to PETER PIPER arriving late at the start. PETITE MASTER was slow into stride. KELIKOTE EXPRESS refused to jump until the field had covered approximately 150 metres. PETITE MASTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PETER PIPER proved difficult proceeding to the start. Trainer Bosch appeared before the Board regarding the above incident, and was advised that should PETER PIPER behave in a similar manner in future, this colt may be suspended. SIDDHARTH shifted in shortly after the start, carrying PETER PIPER inwards resulting in PETER PIPER, A P STRIKE, TOP COMMAND and SEVENTH VIRTUE making contact for a number of strides. Thereafter approaching the 1300 metre mark SIDDHARTH continued to shift in resulting in A P STRIKE and PETER PIPER becoming cramped and making contact. Apprentice Gumede signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that, as the rider of SIDDHARTH, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the runners on his inside shortly after the start. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. In view of the performance of PETER PIPER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Apprentice Murray reported that SEVENTH VIRTUE continuously changed legs in running. KELIKOTE EXPRESS raced without cheek pieces. Vet: PETER PIPER - nothing obvious detected. SEVENTH VIRTUE - blowing. A P STRIKE - speedy cut left hind. BONSAI - speedy cut right hind. Scratched: MICROSTATE - under veterinary treatment.
