MOONLIT VENICE was restless in pens and was slow, losing 1 to 2 lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. She may not be nominated, accepted for or run in a race until recertified tractable. QAWAASEM (AUS) was slow, losing one length. As a result of MOONLIT VENICE being restless in the pens, the handler was unable to release this filly as the start was effected. The Board, after having reviewed the start of the race and in consultation with the Starter, were of the opinion that MOONLIT VENICE had been impeded and declared her a non-runner. BROWN SUGAR and MISSMASALA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Khumalo was charged with a contravention in that he failed to report to the Clerk of Scales at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of Race 1, in which he was engaged to ride MOONLIT VENICE. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. Vet: GREEN CREST - scalped right hind. Scratched: PRINCESS TANTAN (AUS) - card scratching. MOONLIT VENICE - declared a non-runner.
