SAMOGAN (AUS) was slow into stride. Jockey Strydom, the rider of JET JAMBOREE, and Jockey Danielson, the rider of SAMOGAN (AUS), reported that their mounts were making respiratory noises in running and as a result did not persevere with their rides in the latter stages. AUGUSTINUS shifted inwards approaching the 200 metre mark, simultaneously BROOKS-CLUB shifted outwards, resulting in these two horses making contact. Thereafter these two horses, whilst racing in close proximity, made slight contact at the 50 metre mark. An Objection was lodged by Mr Azzie, the Trainer of the second placed horse, BROOKS-CLUB, against the winner, AUGUSTINUS, on the grounds of intimidation in the latter stages of the race. The Objection Board, after viewing the patrol films of the race and hearing all the evidence, were of the opinion that but for this incident, BROOKS-CLUB would not have finished in front of AUGUSTINUS and therefore overruled the objection. The result stands. Trainer Azzie's deposit was refunded. AUGUSTINUS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: JET JAMBOREE and SAMOGAN (AUS) - abnormal respiratory noise. LUCKY HAND - blowing heavily post race. Scratched: MUTHIAH PILLAI - heat left front.
