The start of this race was re-scheduled at the request of the Racing Operator. Thereafter, this race was delayed due to the 30 minute interval between races. POLYNIECES (G Wright) was stubborn loading. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer A Nel was advised to re-school. PANNA COTTA (S Moodley) was slow into stride. MAZAVAROO (*T Gumede) was restless in the stalls.POLYNIECES (G Wright) and WYLIE'S LASS (*J Gates) over-raced in the early stages, respectively. ALFONSE BABY (W Kennedy) was hanging in from the 300m. BORN TO ROCK (C Zackey) was hanging in in the concluding stages. In view of the performances of MIRROR IMAGE (A Marcus), (distance 21.10 lengths, betting 15/2), and PANNA COTTA (S Moodley), (distance 5.30 lengths, betting 71/20) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Jockey A Mgudlwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse ZAMA ZAMA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Mgudlwa, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey Mgudlwa struck the horse ZAMA ZAMA, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey Mgudlwa used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed. ALFONSE BABY (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (TN).
