The start of this race was delayed due to the horses arriving late at the start. ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) was slow, losing one length. Jockey van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with NEWTON POWER and did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Trainer Janse van Vuuren was requested to report back to the Board should he find anything untoward with this gelding on return to the stables. Jockey Sturgeon reported that he felt something amiss with AMERICAN STORM and did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Trainer Woodruff was requested to report back to the Board should he find anything untoward with this gelding on return to the stables. SABADELL shifted out away from the crop at approximately the 150 metre mark, resulting in SHADOW OFHIS SMILE having to switch out slightly to continue its run. Trainer Woodruff and Jockey Lerena reviewed the patrol film of the race with regards to this incident and decided to take no further action. SABADELL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Rider of ROCCO'S LUCK (AUS) raced with Club Colours. Vet: NEWTON POWER - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. AMERICAN STORM - examined post race, no significant findings. GREAT RUMPUS and ROCCO'S LUCK - abnormal respiratory noise.
