PLATE OF PLATINUM broke through the front of the gates, was restrained by the rider, returned, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race and reloaded. BIG BIRD and TIGER CUB lost 1 length. TOLD YOU SO and TRY YOUR LUCK lost 2 lengths. TULBAGH TRIP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Godden, the rider of TIGER CUB, accidently dropped his crop at approximately the 400 metre mark. Apprentice Godden signed an Admission of Guilt for a Warning in that he rode TIGER CUB in an unprofessional manner by dropping his crop at approximately the 400 metre mark. TRENDY GUY over-raced in the early and middle stages. PEARLY KING shifted in approaching the 1200 metre mark carrying DOUBLE CLUTCH and TRENDY GUY inwards, resulting in FALCONERS KNOT becoming cramped for galloping room for a number of strides. This resulted in TULBAGH TRIP racing on the inside of FALCONERS KNOT becoming cramped on the inside running rail. Apprentice Fortune signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that as the rider of PEARLY KING he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses to his inside, by shifting in at approximately the 1200 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. Apprentice Balloo, the rider TRENDY GUY, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. Vet: TOLD YOU SO - speedy cut right hind. PIMPERNEL (NZ) - cut into right hind. TRY YOUR LUCK - speedy cut right hand. Scratched: HEADSTRONG HARRY - Sold without engagement.
