NEW CIRCLE was slow into stride. In view of the performance of GOLDEN CRYSTAL, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey van der Merwe reported that the bit pulled through NEW CIRCLE's mouth, resulting in this colt hanging in and being difficult to assist in the straight. IMPERANI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Myburgh was questioned regarding the improved performance of IMPERANI. He explained to the Board that as this gelding has a tendency to hang in its races, he had requested his Veterinary Surgeon to examine and attend to IMPERANI's mouth. He further explained that in its previous run on 1 December 2014, this gelding had been bumped on two occasions in the latter stages. The Board adjourned to view the patrol film of IMPERANI's run on 1 December 2014. Vet: GOLDEN CRYSTAL - lame right front. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. FOLLOWING 25MM OF RAIN, A COMMITTEE WAS FORMED COMPRISING JOCKEYS, TRAINERS AND COURSE OFFICIALS AND IT WAS THE UNANIMOUS DECISION OF THE COMMITTEE TO ABANDON RACES 7, 8 AND 9 DUE TO A WATER LOGGED TRACK.
