Due to a water logged Turffontein Racecourse, today's racemeeting was moved to the Vaal Inside Turf Track and the distances for Race 3 are now 1200m, Race 6 2400m and Races 8 & 9 1200m. AGILE COMBAT, COEUR DE LION, FOREST FOX and PEPE were slow, losing one length. Workrider Ndlovu, the rider of GIANT EMPIRE, appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to canter his mounts in front of the stands before going to the start. Workrider Matwa, the rider of VINDALOO, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised against the practices of using his crop on a horse which is out of contention for a place and using his crop above shoulder height. NIMBLE DANCER shifted out away from crop from the 500m. Workrider Gwingwizha appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to take the necessary measures to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. In view of the performance of PEPE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. FOREST FOX was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: PEPE - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: YOUNG AND FAMOUS - change of venue.
