WINTER'S AWAKENING (*L Tarentaal) was slow into stride. In view of the performance of ROYAL WINDSOR (S Mbhele), which was not persevered with from the 200m, the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. QUE FOR YOU (A Domeyer) raced green on the bend and was hanging out in the straight. Jockey R Fourie was questioned regarding his riding and the performance of HALLIBERRY. In this regard, he told the Stewards that, from a wide draw, he had been instructed to ride this filly from off the pace and allow her to finish strongly. He further told the Stewards that, in his opinion, the race had been run at a good pace in the early stages and that on entering the straight, he was obliged to wait for a clear run and had elected to switch out to obtain a clear run. Thereafter, HALLIBERRY had been carried in in the concluding stages by WINTER'S AWAKENING (*L Tarentaal) which had shifted in away from the crop. Jockey Fourie was of the opinion that HALLIBERRY was in need of today's run and had stayed on in the latter stages. His explanation was noted. WHAT A FLIRT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Kruyer was advised. ROYAL WINDSOR - not striding out right hind.
