The start of this Race was delayed to the delay in the previous race. Apprentice Marwing reported that the saddle on MEAN LIKE MOM slipped back in running. Jockey Appie reported that GOLDIVA was not striding out freely in running. Trainer Borman was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything untoward with GOLDIVA on return to the stables. In view of the performance from WITH HER APPROVAL, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine mare. Trainer Nassif was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board should he find anything untoward with the mare WITH HER APPROVAL on return to the stables. CLOUD RUNNER was hanging in, in the closing stages. CLOUD RUNNER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: GOLDIVA - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. WITH HER APPROVAL - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: NEW NOTE - rain affected track condition. MARCHIONESS JANIE - transport breakdown. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. AFTER THE RUNNING OF RACE 4, A FORMAL PROTEST WAS LODGED BY THE JOCKEYS. A PANEL, CONSISTING OF TRAINERS, JOCKEYS, STIPENDIARY STEWARDS, VETERINARY SURGEON, THE PHUMELELA RACE DAY MANAGER AND TRACK MANAGER, WAS FORMED, AND CONDUCTED A TRACK INSPECTION. A UNANIMOUS DECISION WAS TAKEN THAT THE TRACK WAS UNSAFE FOR RACING AND THEREFORE ABANDONED RACES 5, 6, 7, 8 AND 9.
