SING OUT LOUD (C Orffer) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. At the 450m, EVA EILEEN (M Byleveld) and FLAME TREE (G Cheyne) came together and brushed. Thereafter, EVA EILEEN (M Byleveld) was held up for a clear run until the 350m, switched out and then had to steady off the heels of tiring SPRINGISINTHEAIR (A Domeyer) approaching the 150m. Jockey S Mbhele, the rider of SAILING SHIP, reported that he felt something amiss with this filly and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the performance of REWRITE THE STARS (S Cele), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. SING OUT LOUD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. PHIL'S DANCER, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith was advised.
