VANCOUVER GOLD lunged forward and broke open the front gate dislodging Jockey van der Merwe and bolted the course. As Jockey van der Merwe was injured as a result of this and lay prone in front of the stalls, the field was unloaded and the start was delayed so that medical attention could be administered. The Starting Stall Certificate for VANCOUVER GOLD has been withdrawn until re-passed tractable with a companion on a raceday. COSMOGENIC stood and lost six lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this mare has been withdrawn until recertified tractable. HEART WARMING lost two lengths. BOARDING CALL was hanging in from the 600m. CROWN OF ROSES, which was hanging out, rolled out at the 100m and had to be straightened. Jockey Aucharuz, the rider of COSMOGENIC, reported that this mare did not stride out freely in running. Jockey Zechner, the rider of ROYAL TRIP, reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. Trainer Ferreira was advised to report back to the Board on the condition of this horse on its return to the stable. Jockey Simons, the rider of HEART WARMING, under the impression that there was something amiss with this filly, stopped riding her at the 250m and eased her out of the race. PARTY PEG was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of PARTY PEG compared to its previous race on the 4th of November 2014 at the Vaal Racecourse over 1200m, Trainer Spies told the Stewards that this filly had raced in a forward position and may have done too much in the early stages. He dropped the filly back to the 1000m distance and in his opinion she had been able to finish the race off strongly. The Stewards noted his explanation and advised Mr Spies of the Rules pertaining to inconsistent form and that the future performances of the filly will be monitored. Vet: COSMOGENIC - not striding out right front. ROYAL TRIP - examined post race, no significant findings. HEART WARMING - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: VANCOUVER GOLD - bolted the course and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
