DYNASTIC POWER and PUTNEY FLYER were slow into stride. When questioned regarding COLTRANE'S (ARG) improved performance today, compared to the gelding's previous run on 22 November 2014, when it finished 50.00 lengths behind the winner, after it was reported by Jockey Fayd'Herbe, that the gelding has taken no interest and as a result he had not persevered with his riding in the latter stages, Trainer Ramsden could offer no reasonable explanation. The video evidence of the gelding's previous run on 22 November was shown and analysed in the presence of Trainer Ramsden. The video showed that in a slow run race over 3200m COLTRANE (AUS) had raced to the front and had started to give ground at the top of the back straight. Jockey Fayd'Herbe was seen to attempt to encourage the horse at this stage, however COLTRANE (AUS) began to give ground to the other runners and dropped back to last position approaching the 800m. Approaching the top of the straight despite the urgings of Jockey Fayd'Herbe COLTRANE (AUS) had dropped off the back of the field and as a result Jockey Fayd'Herbe had eased the gelding out of the race. An extensive Veterinary examination post race at the stables showed no significant findings, which might have explained his poor performance. Trainer Ramsden stated that he had given the gelding a rest after the poor performance. In view of the video evidence, and having regard to the Veterinary examination post race, Trainer Ramsden's explanation was noted and the Board will monitor the future performances of the gelding. DYNASTIC POWER pulled hard in the early stages and was difficult to restrain. COLTRANE (ARG) and GOTHIC were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Scratched: SURRUPTITIOUS - Urticaria.
