NITRO NORI and FURAAT QUALITY (AUS) lost 1 length. KINGOFMOUNTAIN threw his head up repeatedly as the start was effected, resulting in this gelding losing 4 lengths and thereafter being very slow into stride. NITRO NORI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FURAAT QUALITY (AUS) raced wide on the bend. Jockey Sturgeon appeared before the Board with regard to him racing wide on the bend. He explained that due to this gelding being slow away from the outside draw he had elected to race wide to avoid the kickback that is prevailing on the polytrack tonight. The Board accepted Mr Sturgeon's explanation but reminded him of his obligation to take all reasonable measures to ensure that his mounts are competitive in races. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine FURAAT QUALITY (AUS). MUMSY'S JET, hanging in, shifted in approaching the 250 metre mark resulting in TEPPANYAKI, who was racing in a tight gap, becoming cramped for galloping room and being forced to ease for a number of strides, losing position. Thereafter MUMSY'S JET continued to shift in approaching the 150 metre mark carrying COGNAC ON ICE, inwards resulting in COGNAC ON ICE becoming cramped for a number of strides. Jockey Mgudlwa signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended for 7 days for a contravention in that as the rider of MUMSY'S JET he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses TEPPANYAKI and COGNAC ON ICE at approximately the 250 metre mark. KINGOFMOUNTAIN returned post race having cast the left hind shoe. NICK JAGGER raced fitted with pacifiers. Vet: FURAAT QUALITY (AUS) - not striding out left hind.
