The start of this race was delayed due to previous delays. NANOJET lost 2 lengths. SEBONAC lost 6 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. DANISH ZEALOT (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. EMBRASIATIC (ARG) became momentarily cramped and was eased at approximately the 1500 metre mark, resulting in MASAVERU having to be steadied and DANISH ZEALOT (AUS) clipping the heels of MASAVERU stumbling, and switching outwards. CAPE VESTA was baulked for a clear run for a number of strides approaching the 300 metre mark, was switched out for a clear run and thereafter was baulked for a number of strides at approximately the 200 metre mark. Thereafter CAPE VESTA was switched in to obtain a clear run. Apprentice Murray reported that MUTTLY was coughing at the pull up. Jockey Maphumulo reported that MASAVERU was not striding out freely in the latter stages and as a result did not persevere with his ride. SEBONAC took no interest in running. In view of the Starters report concerning SEBONAC, Trainer Van Zyl was advised to re-school this filly. LONDON OLYMPICS raced fitted with alumites in front, unshod behind. Vet: MASAVERU - not striding out left fore. SEBONAC and MUTTLY - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: JET INTOMBI - sprained right fore joint. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
