TIKI TAKA, WALTZING AL and SET THE STANDARD proved difficult to load which caused a delay to the start of this Race. TIKI TAKA, WALTZING AL and SET THE STANDARD were stubborn loading. Trainer van der Westhuizen, Trainer Verdonese and Assistant Trainer Moore were advised to re-school their horses prior to their next engagements. EARTH SHAKER was restless in the stalls. TIKI TAKA lost one length. STOP FOR NOTHING and HARVEY'S WYND over-raced in the early and middle stages. An Inquiry will be opened to establish why THE RIDDLER had to ease severely at the 1000m. At approximately the 200m, EARTH SHAKER became unbalanced when its heels were clipped by STOP FOR NOTHING, which was hanging out from the 250m. Apprentice Sakayi appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised to make more urgent corrective measures. Apprentice Syster, the rider of EARTH SHAKER, accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m. SET THE STANDARD and THE RIDDLER were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
