The start of this Race was delayed due to BOY FROM BRAZIL refusing to proceed to the start and having to be withdrawn. LUCKY BREAK rushed the front gates and was removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and was reloaded. ANAFESTO was slow into stride. PHONETIC lost one length. DANCINGWITHJACKSON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. DANCINGWITHJACKSON, hanging in, shifted in, in the latter stages, despite Apprentice Patel attempts to keep this gelding on a straight course. LUCKY BREAK shifted independently from DANCINGWITHJACKSON. Thereafter DANCINGWITHJACKSON shifted in, which resulted in the crop of Jockey de Melo, the rider of LUCKY BREAK, being accidentally struck from his hand and LUCKY BREAK being brushed and carried inwards shortly before the finish. A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward which was followed by an objection was lodged by Jockey de Melo, the rider of LUCKY BREAK, placed second against the winner, DANCINGWITHJACKSON, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After viewing the patrol videos from the various angles and considering the evidence, the Board was of the opinion that but for the interference LUCKY BREAK would not have beaten DANCINGWITHJACKSON and therefore overruled the objection. The Judge's result was allowed and the deposit refunded. Jockey Latham reported that VELDDRIFTER was making an abnormal respiratory noise in running and as a result did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Jockey Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with READY FOR TAKE OFF in running and as a result did not persevere with his ride over the final 300 metres. Jockey David reported that TRIPLE APOLOGY was not striding out freely in the latter stages. TRIPLE APOLOGY is a gelding and not a colt as carded. Vet: VELDDRIFTER and TRIPLE APOLOGY - nothing obvious detected. READY FOR TAKE OFF - mild post race distress. Scratched: BOY FROM BRAZIL - intractable, withdrawn by the Stipendiary Board. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at tonight's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at tonight's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
