ATHINA jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. ACROSTAR (AUS) jumped awkwardly inwards and thereafter was slow into stride. In view of the performances from HAMMIE'S HOOKER and ASH CLOUD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses and submit a report. JET BELLE was forced to ease off the heels of INARA approaching the 1100m, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of INARA, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to JET BELLE when he shifted ground approaching the 1100m. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. The field elected to race on the outside running rail upon entering the straight and JET SUPREME, which was racing behind and to the outside of HAMMIE'S HOOKER became baulked on the outside running rail approaching the 500m and was forced to ease. JET BELLE was held up for a run for a number of strides. INARA switched in leaving the 300m to obtain a clear run. INARA and ATHINA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HAMMIE'S HOOKER - was inspected post race and no significant findings were detected. ASH CLOUD - returned not striding out.
